RDC: 2016 violent protests asking for presidential elections

Congolese political leader and, not long ago a prisoner at the Internation Criminal Court, where he was accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, Senator Jean-Pierre Bemba, has been nominated as the Presidential candidate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). His political party, the Mouvement de the Liberation du Congo (MLC), nominated him on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Kinshasa, during its Third Congress.

Congolese people often joke about the institutions of their country.One of the most ironic jokes is about the Congolese army, known as the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo  or FARDC.The joke goes like this: "in our beloved Congo, there is no army. Congolese Opposition Leader Moise Katumbi

In the article published on Monday, April 23, 2018, AfroAmerica Network disclosed, based on sources within the Rwandan Government and the Congolese refugees in Rwandan camps  that Moïse Katumbi was planning to travel to Rwanda (see DRC presidential contender Moïse Katumbi, threatens to launch a war to overthrow Joseph Kabila? ). On Thursday, Moïse Katumbi confirmed, in a tweet,  that he had arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, officially to attend the 2018 Mo-Ibrahim Forum meeting  and the celebration of 2017 Mo Ibrahim Foundation Laureate, former Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
