Apple's "It's Glowtime" event kicked off on Monday 9/9/2024 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. As expected, the event focused on iPhone 16, Apple Watch, and AirPods, with new or updated models unveiled. The iPhone 16 Pro are now bigger, faster, with more memory, improved cameras, and Apple Intelligence. The following products were unveiled: iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max.
iPhone 16: Hello, Apple Intelligence.
iPhone 16 included both iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, all built for Apple Intelligence. With the Apple Intelligence capabilities, it will be easier to write and leverage the new larger displays and camera Control. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have big displays with thin borders. iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, whereas iPhone 16 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch display, the largest iPhone display ever.
Both iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max rely on the new A18 Pro chip built on the 2nd-generation 3nm technology. The CPU of two iPhones relies on 6-core Neural Engine. The A18 Pro chip is expected to be 15% faster, while using 20% less power. A18 Pro comes with 8GB of memory and a new 16-core Neural Engine, with 17% increase in memory bandwidth.
The cameras have been updated with the Ultra Wide one having an upgraded sensor to improve macro photography. For connectivity, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max still use the USB-C running at 10Gbps and can leverage MagSafe for wirelessly charging at up to 25W or use Qi2 and Qi chargers.
There is also support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 and the second-generation Ultra Wideband that will help to track the AirTag attached on lost keys or other items.
The iPhones 16 come in four color options, including Black Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Desert Titanium. Preorders for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max start on Friday, with initial shipments arriving on September 20
