"I think Donald Trump is totally wrong there. Anyone who has any real knowledge of that — you can get all the CIA people, all of the career people — no one saw the attack of 9/11 coming. And to blame George Bush for what happened on September 11...shows a lack of knowledge and is too much of a cheap shot at the president, " said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Rep Peter King was reacting to the latest controversial statements by Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling his comments "cheap shot", after Trump seemed to blame former US President George Bush for 9/11. In an exchange with Bloomberg's Stephanie Ruhle.

The exchange in the controversial interview released by Bloomberg Television on Friday October 16, 2015,  in which the  billionaire businessman said that he was more competent than the former president, went like this:

Trump: "When you talk about George Bush, I mean — say what you want —  the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said.

Stephanie Ruhle interrupted and then questioned Trump for  blaming Bush for the attacks that left nearly 3,000 Americans dead.

Trump: “He was president, okay?  Blame him or don’t blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.”

Other republican candidates were  quick to react, among them Ben Carlson who has been closing in in polls and Jebb Bush, whose candidacy has been sluggish as of late.  Jeb Bush immediately took it to Twitter and said: "How pathetic for @realdonaldtrump to criticize the president for 9/11.  We were attacked & my brother kept us safe."
