On Monday, January 20, 2025, Donald John Trump has been sworn in as the 47th US President and James David Vance , as the Vice-President. They took office in a period fueled by major events and crises around the world and major challenges and aspirations in the United States of America: public healthcare, environmental disasters, diversity and equality and inclusion, immigration, continued economic challenges, political crises, cries for unity and racial justice that continue to challenge the fabric of American society. Starting his Inaugural Address, President Donald J. Trump said: “This is America’s day. This is democracy’s day.” The swearing-in ceremony happened on Martin Luther King Jr Day.
In a ceremony was administered by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., who directed President Donald J. Trump to raise his right hand and to repeat after him as the First Lady held the Bibles. President Donald John Trump recited the 35-word oath of office swearing to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”
Earlier, Vice President James David Vance, or JD Vance, placing his hand on a family Bible that, according to Trump's inaugural committee, has been owned by his maternal great-grandmother and was held by his wife, Usha Vance,, was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
After being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, President Donald J Trump, delivered a 30-minute inaugural speech. The speech focused on his policy agenda and the actions to be enacted immediately starting the first day.
The speech highlighted the following areas:
- Reform of Public health, education, and election and political system;
- Dismantling of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) ;
- Enforcement of Immigration laws and executive orders;
- Energy, including declaration of a national energy emergency
- Building a strongest military of the world
- Growing the United States to become a Great nation by increasing the wealth, expanding the territory, building cities, raising expectations, and carrying the flag into new and beautiful horizons.

Inauguration of President Donald Trump and Vice_President on JD Vance on Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day: "Stand Up for that which is Right"
Highlighting the fact that the swearing-in Ceremony coincided with Martin Luther King Jr' Day and the challenges and hopes of the moment, President Donald Trump said:
"To the Black and Hispanic communities. I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love and trust that you have shown me with your vote. We set records, and I will not forget it. I’ve heard your voices in the campaign, and I look forward to working with you in the years to come. Today is Martin Luther King Day, and his honor, this will be a great honor, but in his honor, we will strive together to make his dream a reality. We will make his dream come true."
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an annual federal holiday since 1986. All 50 states celebrate the public holiday on the third Monday in January, but not all states, cities and towns dedicate it solely to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
